RO System Engineering — Industrial Client
Design and automation engineering of a high-efficiency Reverse Osmosis system for an industrial manufacturing facility, reducing freshwater footprint by 45%.
Project Overview
An industrial manufacturing client approached SMRS Infra to design a complete Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment system to reduce dependency on external freshwater supply and cut operational water costs. The scope included detailed feed water analysis, membrane selection and system sizing, pre-treatment train design (multimedia filtration and antiscalant dosing), and PLC automation design for the control system. The system was engineered to recover approximately 75% of feed water as permeate, significantly reducing the freshwater footprint of the facility. SMRS Infra also developed the full P&ID for the RO skid and pre-treatment system, along with the PLC logic for automated operation.
Deliverables
- Feed water analysis and membrane selection report
- RO system sizing calculations (flux, recovery, pressure)
- Pre-treatment process design (MMF, antiscalant, cartridge filtration)
- Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID)
- PLC logic and I/O list
The engineered RO system achieved a 75% recovery rate, reducing the client's freshwater consumption by approximately 45% against the baseline.
