5 MLD STP Design — Bhubaneswar
Comprehensive process engineering and plant layout design for a 5 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant to serve a developing municipal region in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
Project Overview
SMRS Infra was engaged to provide complete process engineering for a 5 Million Litres per Day (MLD) Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) serving a rapidly developing municipal zone in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The project involved selecting the appropriate biological treatment technology based on land availability, effluent norms, and operational simplicity. Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) technology was selected as the primary biological treatment process for its compact footprint and stable performance across varying load conditions. The project covered the full process engineering scope from influent characterisation through to tertiary treatment and chlorine disinfection, including preparation of AutoCAD plant layout drawings and hydraulic profile documentation.
Deliverables
- Process design calculations report (hydraulic loading, unit sizing, sludge handling)
- Process Flow Diagram (PFD)
- Preliminary plant layout drawing (AutoCAD)
- Hydraulic profile drawing
- Design basis document
Delivered a complete process engineering package enabling the client to proceed directly to detailed engineering and equipment procurement for the 5 MLD STP.
